What We Believe

Hope Church is a non-denominational church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible.
These basic doctrines within Hope Church Statement of Faith represent what we believe to be core elements of biblical teaching.

Statement of Faith

A. The Scriptures, Old and New Testament, are the Inspired Word of God
The scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. II Timothy 3:16; I Corinthians 2:13; II Peter 1:20-21
B. There is One God, Holy Creator of All Things, Eternally Existing in Three Persons
There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I John 5:7; Matthew 28:19; Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-2
C. Jesus Christ is True God and True Man, Conceived of the Holy Spirit, Born of a Virgin, Sinlessly Perfect Yet Gave Himself as the Substitutionary Sacrifice for Our Sins, Arose Bodily from the Dead, Ascended into Heaven, Now Seated at the Right Hand of the Majesty on High, Now Our High Priest and Advocate
Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Mary. He took on flesh and dwelt on earth. Even though sinlessly perfect, He gave Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice by dying on a cross. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. This sacrifice was to pay for all sins (past, present, and future) for all who believe and accept Jesus Christ as Savior.I Timothy 2:5; Isaiah 7:14; I John 5:20; John 1:1-2, 14
D. Although Created in God's Image, All Men are Sinners, Fallen in Adam, Hopeless Apart from God's Grace

E. God is Sovereign, It is God's Will that All Would Be Saved, in His Sovereignty He Gives Man Free Will to Accept or Reject the Gift of Salvation
God is sovereign and in His sovereignty He has given to man a free will to accept or reject the gift of salvation. It is God’s will that all would be saved and that none should perish. F. Man is Saved by Undeserved Mercy Through Faith and Nothing of Man Enters into Salvation, it is a Free Gift
Man is saved by undeserved mercy through faith and nothing of man enters into salvation; it is a free gift. Man’s effort, regardless of how good or well intended, before or after salvation, has nothing to do with it. Salvation is by the finished work of Christ and nothing can be added to it. G. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is Essential for Salvation
Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for salvation. The moment a person receives Christ as Savior, he is immediately and permanently indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Only those who receive Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become the children of God.

H. Part of the Holy Spirit's Ministry is to Endow God's Children with Spiritual Gifts
It is a part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit to endow God’s children with spiritual gifts. In accordance with I Corinthians 12, 13, 14, and other related scriptures, this church emphasizes those gifts that build up the entire church body. Therefore, during corporate worship the gift of tongues will be restricted according to the Holy Scriptures.
I. Every True Child of God Possesses Eternal Life, Being Justified by Faith, Sanctified by God, Sealed with the Holy Spirit, Safe and Secure for All Eternity and Cannot Lose Their Salvation
Every true child of God possesses eternal life, being justified by faith, sanctified by God, sealed with the Holy Spirit, is safe and secure for all eternity; and they cannot lose their salvation. However, a Christian can, through sin, lose their fellowship, joy, power, testimony, and reward, and incur the Father’s chastisement. Relationship is eternal, being established by the new birth; fellowship, however, is dependent upon obedience. John 10:27-29; Romans 8:1,8:38-39; I Corinthians 3:11-17; Hebrews 12:5-11; I Corinthians 11:30-32
J. Christians are Called to a Holy Life of Service and Testimony in the Power of the Holy Spirit
J. Christians are called to a holy life of service and testimony in the power of the Holy Spirit, which service includes the communication of the Gospel message both home and throughout the whole world. There is a promised reward in heaven for faithfulness in such service. I Peter 1:15-16; John 12:25-26; I Corinthians 3:12-15
K. The Universal Church is The Spiritual Body Composed of All Born Again Persons and It Is the Body and Espoused Bride of Christ. The Universal Church Began on the Day of Pentecost and Could Not Have Existed Until Christ Died, for the Church Must Be Redeemed by His Blood and Could Only Be Formed by the Present Ministry of the Holy Spirit
K. (1) The Universal Church - We believe that the universal church is the spiritual body composed of all born again persons and that it is the body and espoused bride of Christ. The universal Church began on the day of Pentecost and could not have existed until Christ died, for the church must be redeemed by His blood, and it could only be formed by the present ministry of the Spirit in baptizing all members into one body.

(2) The local Church—We believe that the establishment and continuance of local assemblies is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures and is made up of born-again persons.

(3) Membership in a local assembly has no part in salvation. John 1:12; 3:16
L. [1] Baptism is the Identification with Christ and the Believers, and Therefore, and Ordinance of This Church. Baptism is Not Necessary for Salvation but a Public Testimony of a Believer's New Life in Christ
L.(1) BAPTISM- Baptism is an identification with Christ and the believers, and it is therefore, an ordinance of this Church. Although baptism is not necessary for salvation, it is a public testimony of a believer’s new life in Christ. This Church encourages all members to be obedient to the Scripture in relation to this ordinance. This Church will baptize any believer who desires it even if he does not choose to become a member of the Church. Our understanding of believer’s baptism is that it is a post-conversion experience by immersion.

L. [2] In Accordance with 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 and Other Scriptures, the Lord's Supper Shall Be Administered in the Church
L. 2) THE LORD’S SUPPER- In accordance with I Corinthians 11:23-25 and other Scriptures, the Lord’s Supper shall be administered in this church. This ordinance shall be observed at such time designated by the Board of Elders and all born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ shall be invited to participate.
M. There will be a Resurrection of the Saved and of the Lost ; the Saved unto Eternal Life, the Lost unto Eternal Conscious Punishment and Separation from God

N. Marriage and Sexuality - We Believe that God Offers Redemption and Restoration to All Who Confess and Forsake Their Sin, Seeking His Mercy and Forgiveness Through Christ Jesus. We Believe That Every Person Must Be Afforded Compassion, Love, Kindness, Respect, and Dignity. We Believe the Term 'Marriage" Has Only One Meaning--Marriage Sanctioned by God Join One Man and One Woman in a Single, Exclusive Union, as Delineated in Scripture. Sexual Intimacy is to Only Occur Between a Husband and his Wife.
N. Marriage and Sexuality - We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of the church. We believe that the term 'marriage' has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one's sex, or disagreement with one's biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God.
